Peter J. Jannetta, M.D., Lifetime Achievement Dinner

Surrounded by family, friends, colleagues and TNA supporters, Dr. Peter J. Jannetta retired from leadership of TNA’s Medical Advisory Board on Saturday, April 28, 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Still practicing medicine and treating our patients, Dr. Jannetta became the TNA Medical Advisory Board Chairman Emeritus.

Claire Patterson, TNA Founder and President Emeritus, presented him with “THE CLAIRE W. PATTERSON AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE”. The award said, in part, “We salute you, Peter J. Jannetta, for your extraordinary research and discoveries in the field of neuropathic facial pain, for your exceptional skill in maneuvering in the very small place of the cellopontine angle in the treatment of patients, for your nourishment, training and your expectations for the next generation of neurosurgeons, and for your consummate leadership of TNA’s notable Medical Advisory Board for the past 16 years. With gratitude for our years together and for those yet to come.

Ev Pinneo, former member of the TNA Board of Directors, served as Master of Ceremonies and presented Dr. Jannetta with a book filled with notes of gratitude from across the nation and around the world.

Dr. Jannetta was a pioneer in TN neurosurgery developing the Microvascular Decoompression (MVD) surgical procedure.  In honor of his remarkable career, TNA created the Peter Jannetta Initiative, which will develop medical educational materials and strengthen outreach programs. With many donations to the project made at the celebration, the Jannetta Initiative remains open until fully funded. To make a donation to this important project, visit the TNA website at www.endthepain.org and click here.

Thank you, Dr. Jannetta, for your years of service to TNA and our patients. We look forward to many more as you continue to treat those with TN and neuropathic facial pain conditions.
