UCSD School of Medicine and the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association invite you to attend a Trigeminal Neuralgia and Chronic Facial Pain Continuing Education Course on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Dental and medical continuing education credits will be offered. The course will be held at UCSD’s Skaggs School of Pharmacy, Osler Lane, La Jolla, CA 92093.
The learning objectives for this course include:
Health care providers interested in developing an understanding of face pain resulting from trigeminal neuralgia and other neuropathic facial pain conditions, its diagnosis and treatment are encouraged to attend. The content of this educational program was determined by assessment of educational need and includes surveys, program feedback, expert faculty assessment, and literature review. Since seating is limited, you are encouraged to register early. Registering to attend our conference is easy! You can either register online here or complete the conference registration form and mail or fax it. The registration fee may be reduced or waived for financial hardships. Cultural and Linguistic Competency This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which requires continuing medical education activities with patient care components to include curriculum in the subjects of cultural and linguistic competency. Cultural competency is defined as a set of integrated attitudes, knowledge, and skills that enables health care professionals or organizations to care effectively for patients from diverse cultures, groups, and communities. Linguistic competency is defined as the ability of a physician or surgeon to provide patients who do not speak English or who have limited ability to speak English, direct communication in the patient’s primary language. Cultural and linguistic competency was incorporated into the planning of this activity. The conference will be held at UCSD’s Skaggs School of Pharmacy Auditorium, Osler Lane, La Jolla, CA 92093. From Interstate 5 North, exit on Gilman Dr. and turn to the left, under the freeway. Continue for about 1.5 miles and turn right at Osler Lane, this is the first stop sign as you enter the University. The School of Pharmacy is the first building on the right. From Interstate 5 South, exit on La Jolla Village Drive and turn right on to La Jolla Village Drive. Stay in the right lane, take the Gilman Drive exit. Turn right at the stoplight. Turn right at Osler Lane, this is the first stop sign as you enter the University. The School of Pharmacy is the first building on the right.
UCSD’s Skaggs School of Pharmacy building has parking lots on three sides of the building where you can park for free on the day of the conference.
TNA, established in 1990 by founding President Claire Patterson and a board of directors comprised of TN patients and their families, develops programs and activities to provide information, mutual aid, support and encouragement to TN patients, related facial pain patients, and their families. The organization seeks to serve as a resource and information center, to centralize current data and medical efforts for effective treatment of this disorder. Involvement in conferences, such as this, is one of the ways TNA helps to make information on all forms of TN treatment available.
