Research in the area of Neuropathic Facial Pain and Trigeminal

Neuralgia

Because neuropathic facial pain, including trigeminal neuralgia, is considered a "rare disorder" it is particularly difficult to find adequate money for research.  As a result, The Facial Pain Association (formerly The Trigeminal Neuralgia Association) is working with other groups like NORD (National Organization of Rare Disorders) and NIDCR (National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research).  TNA continues to monitor the progress of pertinent research initiatives, and advocate for continued resources from the Federal government and private sector.

Research Study: Personality and Pain

Researchers at the Jefferson Psychometric Lab of the University of Virginia are conducting a study on the relationship between personality and pain. This study will specifically investigate the role of personality in the perception of pain. If you are over the age of 18 and you have experienced physical pain in your life, please take a few minutes to reply to a brief survey. Participation is completely anonymous. The survey is available at http://www.surveymonkey.com/UVaPsychologyPainStudy.
