This was written on a napkin as I waited 9 hours at an ermergency.
The resident in training said she couldn't give me anything more than Tylenol 3 with codeine as that was what my family doctor prescribed. I lay on the floor and said - fine I will just die here .
She got the doctor - who led me to the eye room and he administered a nerve block; to be totatlly painfree from hell in just a few seconds is amazing.
People like us - are stuck at emergency with crippled hands - I come with all my books, meds. etc.
Hurricane Trigeminal Neuralgia
The pain is relentless
In its vengeance.
It is trying to destroy
My spirit.
When it raises its ugly
Venomous head
It sucks my life's blood.
When it rests
I try to gather strength
To be ready and
Strengthen my body
And don my armour.
My impenetrable spirit
Will rise up once again
And rejoice in the day
That it arrives
In the pain-free zone.
I have my life to live
My life to give
This will not own me.
