Early this spring (March) I e-mailed you because I learned from the TN Association that you had the balloon compression and other procedures to alleviate your TN pain. You were kind enough to answer my request for information on how successful were your procedures.
On June 15th I did have the balloon compression procedure. I went through one week of virtual hell with a constant pain over my right eye. I loaded on Codeine and then finally the pain subsided and to this date I get along with Tylenol. Now one month after the surgery I have not had a TN attack. I asked the neurosurgeon what would he do if the attacks came back and he said he would not do the balloon again
but would try Rhizotomy.
I do have some numbness which I can live with. Presently I am taking 600 mm of Gabapentin and 50 of Carbamazephine (Tegretol) just for insurance. I trust my doctor although it bothers me when he refers to me as "young man." I was born in 1925...you figure.
