J. Elbert Peters

His Personal Story about Pectin

I have trigeminal neuralgia and have had it for several years.

I am currently taking a 75 mg capsule of Lyrica and a 200 mg tablet of carbamazepine three times a day --- at 7 a.m., 3 p.m, and 11 p.m. This regimen and medication were prescribed by a neurologist. It prevented me from having a major outbreak of pain for about three months, although I experienced some pain almost every day.

A little more than two weeks ago at the suggestion of a friend, I started taking a teaspoon full of powdered pectin dissolved in a liquid. I have done this once a day. I have continued to take Lyrica and carbamazepine as stated in the above paragraph. I have experienced a short duration mild pain only twice since I started taking pectin. These very mild episodes were triggered when I opened my mouth wide while eating.

Have you heard of anyone else using pectin for trigeminal neuralgia?
